Morgellons disease (MD) is an emerging multisystem illness characterized by skin lesions with unusual filaments embedded in or projecting from epithelial tissue. Filament formation results from abnormal keratin and collagen expression by epithelial-based keratinocytes and fibroblasts. Recent research comparing MD to bovine digital dermatitis, an animal infectious disease with similar skin features, provided clues that spirochetal infection could play an important role in the human disease as it does in the animal illness. Based on histological staining, immunofluorescent staining, electron microscopic imaging and polymerase chain reaction, we report the detection of Borrelia spirochetes in dermatological tissue of  four randomly-selected MD patients. The association of MD with spirochetal infection provides evidence that this infection may be a significant factor in the illness and refutes claims that MD lesions are self-inflicted and that people suffering from this disorder are delusional. Molecular characterization of the Borrelia spirochetes found in MD patients is warranted. Continue reading…

  1. We absolutely need as many minds wkoirng on this as possible. All truths go through three stages: first they are ridiculed, then they are violently opposed, then they are accepted as self-evident. Arthur Schopenhauer People, do your research (Dr. Randy Wymore; Tulsa, OK PD crime lab; William T. Harvey, MD, M.S., MPH, etc., etc.) This has become a global pandemic and one day you may wish you had paid more attention and had more compassion for current sufferers. Keep fighting the good fight!

  2. wow..thank YOU for posting this [comment]! Years of looking at this..low body temp.. the only thing I’ve gotten relief from is urine therapy. It’s been 4+ years now drinking pee and my temp is finally at a consistent 97 degrees.. still low, but haven’t experienced the coughing and chills for over a year now (knock on wood:) I also haven’t had cold or flu symptoms for over 2 years. Coughing in the night gone.. You can drink 1/4 tsp. of urine in a glass of water or juice..can’t even taste it.
