12-29-2011 Pacific Oddities
Southern California seems to be getting quite a bit of “attention” these daze. Here again we have a grid formed just upwind of the populous area.
While once again the Water Vapor satellite image shows the area to have little to no water vapor (dusty Orange):
As if that was not enough, yesterday we were treated to a special “Black Spot” seen just WSW of Hawaii and SW of Japan. This spot appeared between the Equator and the 15th latitude and moved up onto the 15th lat as the day went on. It is also being seen on Dec 30th. NOAA says that this black area “must be extraordinarily dry”. The black blob was noted to ebb and flow, larger and small both days. This is the first black blob I have seen…
